* There are conflicting reports as to the circumstances leading to the deaths of these 2 men. They were involved in a helicopter crash which some say was due to Taliban small arms fire. Other reports simply state the deaths were due to a helicopter crash. The Department of Defense states that the 2 died “when their helicopter crashed.” That information is available here: http://www.defense.gov/releases/release.aspx?releaseid=15352. Immediately following the incident, Taliban fighters took full responsibility for downing the military aircraft but that’s something the radical Islamist group is known to do regardless of the facts. DCX has sent communications to the DOD asking for clarification.

**After much research as well as communications with the 82nd Airborne Divisions public affairs office we find it impossible not to conclude that both Pace and Fazzari died of injuries caused when their OH-58D Kiowa helicopter was engaged by enemy Taliban forces in Ghazni province, Afghanistan. These two soldier’s entries have been updated to reflect the cause of their deaths as HOSTILE. Thanks to Scott Davis for bringing this matter to our attention.
