In an article dated December 9th I told you about a group of satanists from New York City who were attempting to counter a Ten Commandments monument outside the Oklahoma state house.

Members of the Satanic Temple, which is backing an ACLU legal battle to have the Ten Commandments monument removed, are pushing to have their own monument, dedicated to Satan, erected there and have now unveiled a prototype for the statue: a 7-foot-tall monument featuring a goat-headed Baphomet figure representing the devil –  flanked by two children.

At the time of this writing that satanic group has raised more than $26,000 toward an initial $20,000 goal to pay to have the monument erected.

The Oklahoma Capitol Preservation Commission voted unanimously to place a temporary moratorium on new monuments after a rush of other religious groups proposed monuments of their own.

“This is a faith-based nation and a faith-based state,” said Rep. Earl Sears, R-Bartlesville. “I think it is very offensive they would contemplate or even have this kind of conversation.”

Lucien Greaves, a spokesman for the Satanic Temple, claims “Satanism is a fundamental component at the genesis of American liberty.”
