meeting-nraYesterdays White House meeting between the National Rifle Association and members of Vice President Joe Biden’s post Sandy Hook task force which includes Attorney General Eric Holder, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and other Cabinet officials, was a complete waste of perfectly good finger sandwiches with the end result a mere confirmation by the NRA that they beleive the Obama Administration’s main order of business is “an agenda to attack the Second Amendment.”

Following the meeting the politically heavy hitting NRA immediately issued this blistering statement:

“We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of Congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works — and what does not.”

Biden said he would be prepared to deliver his recommendations on Gun Control measures to the President on Tuesday which “relate primarily to gun ownership, and the type of weapons we own.” Biden referenced the Executive Order privilge on Thrusday and many suspect that will be Obama’s avenue for bypassing congress in his attempt to pass sweeping Gun Control measures.

Regardless of how the new laws are ultimately deciced upon, look for the measures to include toughening laws against “straw purchases” – an event in which one person purcahses a weapon for the sole intent of passing it along to some other unregistered user where the original buyer lies about the identity of the ultimate possessor of the weapon.
